Bernard E. Clair has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the handful of elite New York divorce lawyers, as highlighted in New York Magazine. He has been involved in scores of high profile cases, some of which have garnered national and even international attention. He has also made or helped to make new law in this State, including landmark decisions regarding the enforceability of prenuptial agreements and certain aspects of the more cutting edge issues of this State’s equitable distribution law.
Mr. Clair has lectured and published in the legal community and is the co-author of three books, Love Pact (Grove Press), Consultation with a Divorce Lawyer (Simon & Schuster), and The Ex-Factor (Donald Fine). Since 2000, he has been the Chairman of the Editorial Board of the New York Family Law Monthly, published by Law Journal Newsletters. Mr. Clair receives Martindale-Hubbell’s highest ratings for both legal ability and ethical standards. Mr. Clair has also been consistently selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyer Magazine and as one of New York’s “Best Lawyers” by New York Magazine.
Mr. Clair graduated from St. John’s University School of Law in 1976. He received his New York law license in 1977. In that same year, he founded Clair & Daniele where he concentrated in matrimonial law for the next 20 years. In 1998, he became a partner at Rosenman & Colin (which later merged with the Chicago firm Katten Muchin Zavis) where he was the Chairman of the firm’s Family Law Department until his departure in 2004, when he launched this firm.
In establishing Clair, Greifer LLP, Mr. Clair brings his years of experience in every facet of family law to a setting where the focus remains on efficient, responsive and creative representation, whether it be within the context of contentious litigation or sensitive, private negotiations.
Jad Greifer is a founding member of Clair, Greifer LLP. Mr. Greifer represents clients in all facets of matrimonial litigation, child custody and visitation and support proceedings. Mr. Greifer also represents individuals in the negotiation and preparation of prenuptial, postnuptial and separation agreements. Mr. Greifer has extensive experience and regularly handles matters involving large and complex marital estates.
Mr. Greifer’s litigation track record and professional reputation often fosters a conducive environment for settlement without the need for litigation, although if litigation is necessary, Mr. Greifer is an effective and efficient advocate for his clients. Mr. Greifer receives Martindale-Hubbell’s highest ratings for both legal ability and ethical standards. Prior to forming Clair, Greifer, Mr. Greifer and Mr. Clair worked together for five years at Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman.
Mr. Greifer graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1995 and Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University in 1992. After graduating law school, Mr. Greifer worked on complex corporate matters at Shearman & Sterling until 1998. Mr. Greifer then spent the next two years as the Court Attorney to the Hon. Marylin G. Diamond in a dedicated matrimonial part in the Supreme Court of New York County. Mr. Greifer was admitted to the Bar of New York on January 22, 1996.
